Sugar Cookie Bars

These sugar cookie bars are always a hit and a lot faster to make when you're in a hurry!  They can be used for several holidays or just when you have a craving!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter I use sweet cream, salted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup butter I use sweet cream, salted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tsp. clear vanilla Clear vanilla keeps your frosting bright white
  • 5 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar until creamy.   Add the eggs and vanilla and mix again.  Then, add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. 
    Press the dough into a greased cookie sheet until it forms an even layer.  Then bake at 375 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until light golden brown.  Don’t over cook or your cookie bars will be dry.  Allow the pan to cool and then frost and decorate the cookie bars as desired.  Cut and serve!  Makes 16-24 bars, depending on size.
